SERVICOM Inauguration: Prof. Ogunlusi Calls for Efficient Service Delivery

The Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Ikole-Ekiti, Professor Johnson Dare Ogunlusi, has charged members of staff to imbibe the culture of excellence and efficient service delivery in the discharge of their responsibilities.
This was disclosed in a keynote address during the inauguration of the hospital’s SERVICOM Unit at the hospital premises on Monday, 8th September 2025, in a ceremony attended by representatives of the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Coordinator of SERVICOM.
While delivering his keynote address, Prof. J.D. Ogunlusi, who was represented by the Head of
Department of Surgery in the hospital, Dr. Stephen Anya Onjefu expressed appreciation to the team from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the National Coordinator SERVICOM, Presidency, for the exercise.
He enjoined the members of staff to see the inauguration as a call to provide effective and efficient
service to patients, adding that the inauguration of SERVICOM Unit in the facility is a step geared
towards ensuring continuous service improvement and delivering a world-class standard medicare.
“Today, we are not just inaugurating a new unit; we are initiating a new culture. This is a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement,” he said.
He also affirmed that, “SERVICOM will serve as a vital link, a bridge between our patients’ expectations and our service delivery. It is a system designed to help us identify our weaknesses, celebrate our strengths, and build a framework where every interaction, every procedure, and every moment of care is guided by the highest standards of quality”.
While delivering the welcome address, the Acting Head of Administration, Fayigbe Abayomi, assured the participants of the Management’s willingness to support the course of effective and efficient service delivery. He further urged the inducted members of staff to take the task ahead with a sense of responsibility and commitment to the vision, making FMC a leading centre of excellence.
“As we are all aware, our Medical Director, Prof. J.D. Ogunlusi, has a soft spot for service excellence; as such, I can guarantee that you will get all the necessary support you need to function in this role. I urge you to take this responsibility with all sense of seriousness and commit to supporting FMC, Ikole-Ekiti in setting a new standard for quality healthcare service delivery,” Fayigbe stressed.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachallom, who was represented at the event by the Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Rebecca Okon, opined that the goal of attaining exceptional service delivery and patients’ satisfaction requires commitment, deliberate efforts, and always upholding ethical principles.
“Achieving excellence in service delivery is never accidental. It is a product of deliberate action, a team-oriented mindset and an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing consistently,” he stated.
He further advised that for the institution to achieve its mandate in service delivery, it must leverage interdepartmental collaboration, as excellent service delivery requires synergy between all the various units and departments in the hospital. “Beyond compliance, I emphasize the need for collaboration and synergy among all departments and units, as no unit can function optimally in isolation. For the hospital to deliver on its mandate effectively, there must be cooperation, coordination and shared responsibility across all functional areas.”
The highlights of the event included the presentation of SERVICOM pack to the Medical Director, and the inauguration of FMC, Ikole-Ekiti SERVICOM team with Dr. Atoyebi Tunji as the focal person by the National Coordinator, SERVICOM, Presidency, Anthony Oshin, who was represented by Team ‘A’ Leader, SERVICOM, Shittu Oyelude.
