The Federal Medical Centre, Ikole-Ekiti, has continued in its trajectory of offering qualitative healthcare to patients, as it has performed another successful total knee replacement surgery on a patient at the hospital.
The procedure which was performed on a 43-year-old female on Sunday, 26th October, 2025, was done to correct a knee deformity due to a failed surgery that the patient had at a different facility about ten months ago, which affected her mobility.
While commenting on the success of the surgery, the Medical Director, FMC, Ikole-Ekiti, Prof. Johnson Dare Ogunlusi, expressed delight with the latest clinical feat and commended the team of medical personnel led by Dr. A. Taiwo for their commitment towards making the hospital a destination of medical excellence.
Prof. Ogunlusi added that the mandate of the hospital is to provide excellent medical care to patients at an affordable price and to bring qualitative healthcare to the doorstep of Ekiti people and Nigeria at large.
He further emphasised that in the hospital’s first year of operation, it has performed total knee replacement surgeries and other advanced neurological procedures.
“I wish to let you know that this is not the first of its kind here. From the inception of our operation in July 2024 to date, we have successfully performed total knee replacement surgeries and several other lifesaving procedures,” he said.
He attributed the successes recorded within the short period of the hospital’s operation as a demonstration of the Management’s commitment to making the hospital a world-class centre for Arthroplasty and other advanced medical procedures.
Speaking with our reporter, the patient who is currently recuperating at the VIP ward expressed her appreciation to the team of medical personnel for their professionalism and dedication, adding that choosing FMC, Ikole-Ekiti, to undergo the procedure was a decision well taken.
“The team was very professional, dutiful and courteous. They carried me along in every step of the process, right from the evaluation phase to the post-operation period. They have been up and doing and I don’t regret choosing FMC Ikole Ekiti,” she said.
She also expressed optimism that she will be able to walk well very soon.
