Nursing is the glue that holds a patient’s health care journey together. Across the entire patient experience, and wherever there is someone in need of care, nurses work tirelessly to identify and protect the needs of the individual. The Department of Nursing Services provides safe, acceptable, effective and qualitative healthcare services to individuals, families and communities.

Our Duties and Services

Nursing Units

Accident and Emergency Nursing: This unit focuses on handling emergency cases ranging from accident cases that require urgent attention, to injuries and major trauma related issues. Nurses working in this unit are specially trained to handle emergency related issues.

Paediatric Nursing: Paediatric nursing is a specialization of the nursing profession that focuses on the medical care of children, from infancy to the teenage years. This is an important field because the health of children is distinct from that of adults due to the growth and development that occurs throughout childhood. It is against this backdrop that we have specially trained nurses assigned to the paediatric unit to provide medicare services.

Surgical Nursing: This unit has nurses that are trained to provide preoperative care to patients before, during and after surgery. 

General Nursing: This unit has the nurses that are trained to handle varieties of care related issue. Because of their vast knowledge and experience they could be deployed to any department to handle patients’ care responsibilities.

The Department of Nursing Services primary responsibility is first to ensure patients’ wellbeing by delivering professional and exceptional care services. 

Orthopaedic Nursing: This unit is a nursing speciality focused on the care of patients with musculo-skeletal disorder, which include conditions like fracture, joint replacement, arthritis and osteoporosis. They also provide pre-operative, post-operative and rehabilitation support.

Profile

Mrs. Ogunleye Deborah Kehinde started her early education at St. Stephen Anglican Primary School, Ayebode Ekiti, in 1981. Upon completion of her primary school, she went to Ayebode High School, Ayebode, Ekiti, for her secondary school, which she completed in 1986. She proceeded to St. Gerald School of Nursing, Kakuri, Kaduna, between 1992-1995 to study nursing.

She began her professional career at Colonel Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna, where she worked as a Staff Nurse from 1998-1999. In her quest for knowledge, she went to St. Luke’s School of Nursing, Wusasa-Zaria, Kaduna, from 1999-2000 to broaden her scope in Midwifery.

She relocated to Ekiti State in 2001 and was employed by the Ekiti State Hospital Management Board as Nursing Officer II. She has, over the years, risen through the ranks to the position of Chief Nursing Officer. In 2024 following the conversion of the State Specialist Hospital, Ikole-Ekiti, to Federal Medical Centre, she was absorbed into the service of the hospital as a Chief Nursing Officer, a position she held until her appointment on the 24th July, 2025 as the Acting Head of Nursing Services, Federal Medical Centre, Ikole-Ekiti.
