The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Ikole-Ekiti held orientation and induction programme for its newly absorbed members of staff at the hospital premises on 4th March, 2025.
While delivering the opening address, the Medical Director, FMC Ikole-Ekiti, Professor Johnson Dare Ogunlusi, enjoined the newly absorbed staff to key into the hospital’s mission and vision of becoming a medical destination of excellence and a preferred medical destination of choice for all.
‘’I will want you to exhibit that leadership quality that when anybody comes here, he will see an embodiment of responsibility that translates into our mission to be a medical destination of excellence offering qualitative and affordable clinical services, training and research with the highest form of courtesy and dignity.
‘’Our vision is to become the leading and preferred medical destination of choice with highly motivated staff using cutting-edge medical knowledge and technologies to deliver healthcare services to Ekiti people and Nigerians at large,’’ he said.
Professor Ogunlusi urged the participants to show optimum commitment and dedication to duty by imbibing the spirit of excellence in service delivery, irrespective of their designation, adding that achieving the goal of being a top-class medical centre is a collective responsibility that everyone should bear with all seriousness.
He further implored the newly absorbed staff to internalise and adopt the hospital’s existing culture of empathy towards patients by being ready and willing to help at all times and go beyond the call of duty to provide support when the need arises.
He assured the participant of the management’s commitment towards ensuring that staff welfare remains a top priority. He also added that the hospital is willing and ready to support committed staff who want to pursue personal career development training.
‘’We will push you, pull you, and drive you to be better people. There are numerous opportunities for you to develop yourselves. We are ready to support your personal development, and we have put in place measures to ensure you are well taken care of.’’
In his lecture, Patient Care and Service Delivery at FMC Ikole-Ekiti, Dr. Babatunde Rosiji, Head of Clinical Services, FMC Ikole-Ekiti, stated that the primary responsibility of everyone in the hospital is to provide excellent healthcare service to patients.
He noted that the task ahead of the newly absorbed staff is very crucial and as such, should be taken with the responsibility of duty of care.
He added that their actions or inactions could have serious consequences on patients’ lives and experiences at the hospital; as such, they should work with the understanding that their primary duty is to ensure patients come and leave the hospital with a smile on their faces.
He further charged them to be worthy ambassadors of the hospital by showing utmost commitment to work and loyalty by projecting the good image of the hospital in their conduct and dealings with patients.
