In a gesture aimed at boosting healthcare access for the underprivileged, Sade Ademola Foundation and Dr. Ademola Ojo Farming and Food Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has settled patients’ hospital bills worth ₦1,686,851 at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ikole-Ekiti, on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025.
The programme of the NGO tagged Medical Bill Support is a yearly programme embarked upon by the NGO to provide financial assistance to patients in healthcare facilities within it area of coverage.
The State Coordinator of the NGO, Elder Ojo Ayodeji Aderemi and his team paid a courtesy visit to the hospital and briefed the Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Ikole-Ekiti, Prof. Johnson Dare Ogunlusi on the mission of the NGO.
Aderemi noted that the visit was specifically designed to provide financial aid to indigent patients.
While delivering his welcome address, the Medical Director expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the hospital and the beneficiaries. He commended the NGO for the kind gesture and for choosing the facility as a focal point for its humanitarian efforts.
“Thank you for this very important visit and your compassion towards the less privileged. This goodwill gesture will go a long way in helping the less privileged in our society to pay for qualitative healthcare,” Prof. Ogunlusi remarked.
He further emphasized the hospital’s commitment to collaborate with both public and private partners for ensure qualitative healthcare delivery. He added that FMC Ikole-Ekiti is ready to partner with the NGO on long-term healthcare delivery.
“The hospital welcomes any collaborative efforts that are geared towards providing succour to the medically underserved and the less privileged in the society,” he stated.
After the briefing at the Medical Director’s office, the team from the NGO identified 12 patients and settled their medical bills to the tune of ₦1,686,851.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our reporter expressed profound appreciation to the NGO for the support, adding that the gesture came as a huge relief for them.
The programme underscores the importance of collaboration in achieving universal health coverage especially for the most vulnerable in our society.
