FMC IKOLE-EKITI: STAFF CELEBRATE PATIENT’S RECOVERY, DISCHARGE

Sometimes friends and family are made in unusual places and under unusual circumstances. This is the story of Mrs Kazeem, a patient who was admitted for 76 days at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ikole-Ekiti. While her primary motive of visit to the hospital on the 9th December, 2025 was to seek medical attention over a pregnancy-related issue, she got more, as over time, the courteous members of staff at FMC, Ikole-Ekiti, became her friends and family in her search for qualitative healthcare.

The love and bond that existed between Mrs Kazeem and her caregivers (doctors, nurses, and other health workers) was so closely knitted that she became a member of the FMC Ikole-Ekiti big family. While under care, she delivered a baby boy on the 21st January, 2026, 41days after she was hospitalised.

The relationship which had grown in care and love came to a crescendo on the 24th February, 2026, as the Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Ogundolire, handling her case, certified her fit for discharge after 76 days on admission. As the news filtered into the wards, it was greeted with great excitement and celebration.

Members of staff jumped in jubilation, expressing excitement over the fact that she would be going home with her newborn baby. The elated Mrs Kazeem did not hesitate to join her newfound friends and family (the doctors, nurses and other health workers) in a celebratory dance.

Recounting her experience, she said, in FMC Ikole-Ekiti, she met the kindest and most professional set of medical personnel who went beyond the call of duty to provide her with the best care available. She also extends her gratitude to the Management and members of staff for the exceptional care and support.
